Update about Council and local matters

Here is a quick update following our meeting 29th April.

Our next meeting will be Monday 17th June (we meet bi-monthly and try to avoid public holidays etc).

We are saddened to let you know that a man was recently assaulted and left with serious injuries to his face, whilst walking between Huskisson and Woollamia at night. The man is in hospital, and police are investigating. Please be cautious.

Updates from last meeting

  • The works on Sharknet beach, which is the construction of a ramp to the beach, will continue when the contractor receives the necessary supplies.
  • Residents are continuing to liaise with Council, Police and State Member, Liza Butler regarding noise from the pub.

SCC and State Planning documents for comment

  • Community engagement framework is open for comment – due by 15th May.
  • The Draft Delivery Program Operational Plan and Budget is open for comment – due 10 June
  • Shoalhaven Water fees and charges are proposed to increase from July 2024 to cover the increasing costs of providing water and sewer services and infrastructure across the region. There has been a dramatic increase in operational costs during the last three years, particularly, the costs of electricity and essential chemicals required for treatment processes which have each increased by around 70 per cent during the last three years (our sewerage treatment uses a lot of electricity).
  • A thought from HWCV: Shoalhaven Water does an amazing job in providing clean water, and providing sewerage services – in rainy days like we’ve been having their staff have the not-so-pleasant job of being out in the rain solving problems.
  • Feedback on Council property sales program, closes 23 May.

Recent Development Applications in Huskisson / Woollamia
