On behalf of all the ratepayers and residents across Huskisson, Woollamia and surrounds we ask you to please support this important meeting with your attendance to show our genuine concern for the apparent limited policing in our towns and villages. 

This is an ideal opportunity to learn about the strategy behind Policing in our area, to understand the different roles the police play, and to receive answers to any questions you may have.

  • Countback election for Ward 1 listed for Tuesday 9 December 
    • The NSW Electoral Commission has listed Tuesday 9 December as the date for the Ward 1 countback election following the resignation of Jason Cox last week. The countback process is conducted by the Electoral Commission and applies to people who stood as a candidate for Ward 1 in the September 2024 Local Government election and were not originally elected. More Information
  • Students inspired by First Nations art explore concept of ‘home’
    • Artwork exploring the idea of ‘home’ through the lens of local primary school students is now on exhibition at the Shoalhaven Regional Gallery in Nowra.  The exhibition is the culmination of the HOME Program which enabled students from Falls Creek, Greenwell Point, Nowra, Sanctuary Point, and Tomerong Public Schools to connect with local Aboriginal artists, community, language, and culture.  More Information
  • Preferred location for Sanctuary Point Library endorsed 
    • Council has endorsed the corner of Kerry Street and Paradise Beach Road as the preferred location for a new library in Sanctuary Point. The new library would replace the current library building and service the 30,000 residents in Sanctuary Point and surrounding Bay and Basin communities.More Information
  • New exhibition reflects on life with a disability 
    • A powerful and poignant exhibition that provides an artist’s insight into overcoming the physical and psychological challenges of living with a disability will open at the Shoalhaven Regional Gallery in Nowra next weekend.Award winning Crescent Heads artist, Carly Marchment lives with Muscular dystrophy and her Legacy of Lines – Bundanon Series explores themes of personal growth, resilience, and the challenges of mobility in life and art.More Information
  • Triathlon Huskisson Festival Limits
    • We are aware of numerous complaints concerning the ever increasing size of the recent event highlighting unacceptable amplified noise levels experienced within several blocks of White Sands Park and the lack of adequate parking for some 13,000 participants plus families, etc.Our best advice is to please share these and any other experiences with Shoalhaven Council’s Business and Event Coordinator, Lisa Brown, events@shoalhaven.nsw.gov.au so they can be properly addressed with the applicants.   We have also included a link to their Event Policy regarding permitted events on Council owned or managed land.
  • One Shoalhaven, all abilities: have your say on disability inclusion 
    • People with a disability, their families and carers are being invited to help develop a plan that aims to improve access and inclusion in the Shoalhaven.  The Disability Inclusion Action Plan (DIAP) is a four-year strategic plan which sets out Council’s commitments and priorities to ensure people of all ages with a disability have better access to services, facilities, activities, employment and information.  More Information
  • Kevin Norwood appointed Director of City Services 
    • Highly regarded and long serving staff member, Kevin Norwood, has been appointed Director of City Services following a competitive recruitment process. Mr Norwood started with Council in 1988 and has spent 37 years rising through the ranks to become a well respected member of the Executive Leadership Team. More Information
  • Have your say on Council Draft Code of Meeting Practice 
    • Ordinary Meetings will be impacted by a new set of rules from next year and the community is invited to provide feedback on the proposed changes.  The changes reflect the provisions and associated guidance for the new 2025 Model Code of Meeting Practice for NSW local councils which will come into effect from 1 January 2026. More Information
  • Lower Shoalhaven River Coastal Management Program  
    • Council will seek NSW Government certification for the Lower Shoalhaven River Coastal Management Program (CMP).   The long-term strategic document guides how the organisation manages coastal hazards in the Shoalhaven River estuary, protects sensitive environments and heritage, and enhances public access.  More Information
  • Report A Pothole Campaign
    • Liza Butler has secured $5 million in additional funding from the Minns Labor Government for Shoalhaven City Council to get on with job of fixing our roads.
      Through Liza’s “Report a Pothole” initiative on her website, every road issue that comes in is sent straight to where it belongs – Shoalhaven City Council if it’s a local road or Transport for NSW if it’s a state road.

  • Council supports Keeping Cats Safe at Home
    • Council is joining forces with the RSPCA and the NSW Government to encourage and enable cat-owners to desex their pets and prevent them from roaming in local neighbourhoods. More Information
