Update from last meeting

- Two recent meetings of Council have voted to disregard the recommendations of the overwhelming majority of community consultation groups across the Shoalhaven and move instead to reduce existing safeguards for future balanced growth and development. This is a surprising and disturbing change of direction as there were assurances this would not happen as recently as Council’s meeting on 10 November 2024.Local Ward representative, Councillor Lou Casmiri, briefly advised his current opinion to the HWCV in his email of 6 December 2024.HWCV has expressed its deep concerns to all councillors in its letter of 12 December 2024. - SCRN-Shoalhaven Community Resilience NetworkIn 2022 there were several workshops facilitated by Emeritus Professor Darry Low Choy from Griffith University, about the preparation of a Bay and Basin Community-led Adaption and Resilience Complementary Sub-Strategy. The strategy was completed and released in December 2022. (see attachment).Unfortunately the Councils finances are not in good shape. So if the project is to proceed and make any significant progress either grants will need to be secured or alternative ways found to implement the community’s plan. One such avenue to be explored is with the NSW Reconstruction Authority. Copy of email and Workshop InvitationAdditional information 1 and Additional information 2
