Update from last meeting
- 56-60 Hawke St, Huskisson on 17th February DA23/1784
- Two recent letters related to this item.
- Residents may be interested to know that in the Council meeting, 26th November 2024 the Council unanimously voted to include consideration of character as part of the LEP (zoning and the planning requirements – note this was the first step, endorsed by the CCBs. The planned next stage was to be full community consultation across the Shoalhaven). At the next meeting, 10th December 2024, Council rescinded that motion some Councillors saying that they hadn’t fully understood what they were voting on and then claiming that consideration of character would affect development. The HWCV and other CCBs are very disappointed with this outcome. It undermines the community call to retain the character of our villages and towns, and Council staff and other experts clearly stated that having character considerations is not any obstacle to development.
