HWCV Update – First for 2023!

Well, it’s 2023!
We hope you have stayed well and are well. 

Below is a bit of an update on matters related to Huskisson / Woollamia that have come up over December and early January.  
Most importantly – our first meeting for 2023 will be:
6th February 2023, starting 7pm. Huskisson Community Centre, Dent St, Huskisson.

 

Update

  • The shade sail for Plantation Point is expected to be completed soon after the January school holidays.
  • Council recently became a member of the SunSpot APVI Solar Potential Tool. This tool will provide accurate and reliable information about the viability of a solar system or solar and battery system at individual properties.  Check out your house!
  • Digital emergency screen – is now installed at the Huskisson Community Centre. Take a look next time you’re down there, more information here.
  • Finalisation of PP064 Willinga Park – see attached.
  • The meeting notes of the Council-organised CCB Executive meeting are now available here.
  • Trial of licence plate recognition technology – Licence plate recognition technology combines advanced high speed digital cameras together with GPS and optical character recognition software to identify and read number plates on vehicles. More information. Trial locations

  • Council have reviewed the Community Consultative Body guidelines. The review will be on exhibition until 6th March 2023. Please comment directly to council, or if you’d like your comments collated with others send to exec@hwcv.org.au and we’ll include in a Voice response.  More information here
  • Council is calling for expressions of interest for interested and committed people to join its Natural Area Volunteers Group.  The purpose of the Group is to act as an advisory and representative group on all matters relating to the future directions of the Bushcare Policy and program.   More information.
  • Draft Managing growth in Milton, Ulladulla and Surrounds – comment due by 5pm 20th January.
  • Shoalhaven City Council has received concerns regarding road safety at the intersection of McArthur Drive and Jervis Bay Road, Falls Creek. Council staff have recently inspected this location. From these investigations, Council is considering the installation of road safety improvements to this intersection, as per the attached plan. Further detail.Comments by 7th February 2023.

  • University of Sydney researcher, Anna Sturman is seeking participants for the project Developing systems and processes to protect animals during catastrophic fires, funded through the Commonwealth Government Black Summer Bushfire Recovery Grants Program.   • Shimano Husky Triathlon Festival will be held Friday 24th, Saturday 25th February & Sunday 26th February 2023. Attached are road closure times and maps with access travel routes to Huskisson during the event. A new event: a Night Run will be held on Friday 24th February 2023
